Two towers of thin rectangles, joined row to row by notched connectors whose only random property is where they sit.
Structure, with one dose of chance
The layout is entirely fixed: fifteen rows at a constant height and a constant gap,
two towers side by side, the second with the colours exchanged.
DrawTower(canvas, offsetX, offsetY, PrimaryColor, SecondaryColor, SeedLeft, rows);
DrawTower(canvas, offsetX + TowerW + gap, offsetY, SecondaryColor, PrimaryColor, SeedRight, rows);
The only thing the generator decides is where along a row each connector sits. Not
whether there is one, not how wide it is, not what colour — only its horizontal
position.
Three rows. Nothing here is random yet except the connector placements.
Six rows. The connectors are notched into both the row above and the row below, which is
why they read as joins rather than as marks laid over the top: the rectangles are drawn
around them.
Nine rows. A small solid square floats in the gap each connector spans — the only filled
mark in the piece, and the only place the second colour is used as a fill rather than a
stroke.
Twelve.
Full height.
Why one variable is enough
A composition with no randomness reads as a diagram; one with a lot reads as noise. This
piece takes the narrowest possible dose: a single continuous parameter per connector,
with everything else fixed.
The result is that the eye reads the towers as regular and the connectors as incident —
and because the connector positions are the only thing varying, the eye follows them,
which is exactly what a circuit-board drawing wants.
Seeds are per-rendering
Each rendering carries its own pair of seeds as preset properties (SeedLeft, SeedRight),
so the connector positions are not shared across variants. The lead rendering uses 42 and
137; the others use distinct values, giving each a genuinely different layout.
Five renderings
| Rendering | Rows | StrokeWidth | ConnW | Ink |
|---|
| Cyber Cyan Magenta | 15 | 0.85 | 30 | cyan and magenta, exchanged |
| Scaffold Chalk Ember | 8 | 1.3 | 44 | chalk white and ember red |
| Filament Indigo Amber | 26 | 0.35 | 20 | soft indigo and amber |
| Circuit Jade Crimson | 20 | 0.65 | 26 | jade green and crimson |
| Bridge Silver Violet | 11 | 1.1 | 60 | silver-blue and violet |
Determinism
SeededRandom — the project’s stable Xoshiro256StarStar — is created once per tower
from a literal seed and consumed once per connector, top to bottom.
